Student Nursing Assistant Internship Program

Through Yale-New Haven Hospital's Student Nursing Assistant (SNA) Program, student nurses are partnered with RNs on patient care units and exposed to a variety of patient populations and skill development opportunities. Combined with a flexible schedule designed to make the balance of school, work and life an attainable goal, this program presents student nurses with a remarkable opportunity to experience the world of professional nursing.

SNA Internship Program
This dynamic program is designed to provide SNAs with the opportunity to strengthen their clinical skills, enhance their theoretical knowledge, and facilitate their transition from student nurse to the role of a novice professional nurse. Under the direction of our Registered Nurses, SNAs perform clinical nursing and routine daily functions while also assisting in the planning and implementation of our interdisciplinary plan of care.

With a Masters-Prepared Educator serving as an on-site SNA Program Coordinator, participants enjoy continued support throughout the length of the program - promoting their achievement of professional activities and goals. The program includes a 4-hour supplemental orientation class, as well as ongoing classes during Winter, Spring and Summer breaks focusing on a range of relevant nursing topics.

This program is available to any nursing student who is currently enrolled in an accredited School of Nursing program, who has completed (or is currently enrolled in) at least one semester of relevant clinical practicum, and who has completed their school's Fundamentals in Nursing Skills Lab.
